While the story was engaging enough, the book was too fast-paced for me. Hardly any consideration was given to the actual experiences of the characters and their emotions. It's simply a different writing style than I prefer.
Additionally, there were many times when it felt like the author's voice was being used irreverently in place of the characters' such as making "random" philosophical comments on the nature of time and memory. While relevant to the book, the comments (both in passing and in character dialogue) disrupted my flow of reading.
There were also moments such as when Helena says she is "making a save point" that really stuck out. I would prefer words like a "return point." It simply felt out of place and irreverent. I wouldn't dare compare this book to I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, but there were similar issues to a small extent.
Nevertheless, it was entertaining.
